Yep Jon Doe is right. This weekend's Youth Of Truth (YOT) Conference was off the hook. It was the 1st Annual Spring Conference which automatically made it historic plus we got to rock with the Blastmaster KRS-One himself. I don't know if the pics are up yet but check out www.hillsidechapel.org just in case.
It all started on Friday night, we got a chance to hang out with KRS-One and my man Server at Hot 107.9 FM during Coco Brother's show. Much props to Coco for having us up there and definitely nuff respect to Server and Nation Time Syndicate, Inc. (www.nationtime.com) for picking Prophetix to perform with KRS-One. KRS-One dropped jewels as usual on the radio and he even battled an emcee over the phone. From there we went to get some grub because everyone was pretty hungry. Big Eddie Meeks set everybody out at the Supreme Fish Delight and he even bought KRS-One's meal. That was kool! I didn't even think of doing that and the GOD was right in our midst.
The show was live y'all. It was the YOT Hiphop Night. There were people there from ages 5 up to 60 and everybody was jammin'. No generation gap in that place at all. The crowd was very receptive and when we performed "Bigguns" and "Unstoppable" they went wild. Jon Doe knocked 'em out with so slick turntable skillz and that really got the people hyped. Did y'all know that Jon Doe could work the mixer with his lips! I thought I was a smooth talker. Sol Uprising joined us to rock "Shatter" and it was lovely. Everyone had their hands in the air and "fell in love with Hiphop again."
Anyway, we got the pulpit (literally) warmed up for KRS-One and ya know he ripped it. "Shatter" was a great song to bring him in on before his performance. I could tell he really had a great time. He ran through his classics like "South Bronx (original and 2002)", "Jimmy", "You Must Learn", "Step In To A World", "The Mic", "Emcees Act Like They Don't Know", etc., etc. It was a great night. Speech from Arrested Development also did a cameo during KRS-One's set and the people got really hyped. It was a good feeling to see all the LOVE that was in the house.
But it didn't stop on Friday night...
Server started it up on Saturday morning with his lecture, "God, Hiphop, and You." I was seriously tired from all the energy spent on Friday night and the show on Thursday night but Server put it down for the cause and delivered his lecture at 9AM. Pheww. After that, the Blastmaster did his lecture called, "The Science of Rap." For those that missed it, too bad. You missed some definite Wisdom about life and the music industry!
There was FREE food for all the participants of the conference and it still wasn't over after the lectures. The YOT put on a gospel concert that was off the chain. I know some of you may be out there reading this saying, "Why is Mello talking about all this church stuff? Has Prophetix gone Gospel?" Nah but we recognize the Truth when we see it and give thanks to the Creator for it. YOT blew the house down along with some visiting choirs. Who ever said that our youth were hopeless obviously wasn't at Hillside this weekend.
Sunday...Whoa...Sunday was HOT. Server dropped jewels at the 8AM service and KRS-One dropped jewels at the 10:30AM service. I'm with Server on his new theme, "Now is the time and we are the people!" There is nothing new under the Sun so let's get moving! He and KRS-One were like Shaq and Colby with the tag team. KRS-One's topic was "Choosing to Be Spiritually Minded." I can't even begin to go into detail about his lecture because you'll never finish reading this blog. If you want to pick up the audio or video tape, go to www.hillsidechapel.org. Needless to say, he turned it out.
The YOT closed the service out with songs they sang from the previous night and it was all love. Big up to my Minister Darin Woodard for making the YOT Conference possible, Server for throwing out our name as an opening act, Pierre for catching me in the hallway and asking me to perform for the event and everybody that made the YOT Conference a success. The children definitely are our future.

My man Mello Melanin will be able to expand on this later as he was able to attend the all of the weekend's events at HIllside. BOH-BOH!
***On a side note, I was able to get my copy of Criminal Minded and By All Means Necessary autographed by the Blastmaster himself. No, punks, they ain't going up on Ebay, they're goin on the wall of fame at the Dirty Blanket!***

Next up to feel The Ultimate Show is...
Knoxville, Tennessee! That's right y'all we rockin' at Blue Cats in Knoxville April 24th and we are definitely gonna bring the knocks. Last time I was there with Scienz we got much love. As a matter of fact Lil Sci and Stacy Epps of Sol Uprising will be in the house as well that night. Nashville loved it when we rocked with them to our new single Shatter which also features ID 4 Windz. Untamed, you got a hit playa!
Also May 3rd at the Somber Reptile in Atlanta, GA. The event is an afterparty for the Midtown Music Festival. Its funny how in ATL we can have a Midtown Music Festival where people are going to partying and trashing the city but we can't have the Hiphop Summit here where people will be coming to learn. Interesting...
For the people who have purchased High Risk from our website, as a way of saying thanks, we got something special for you when we get the High Risk shirts back.
For the people who haven't bought one YET we will have something nice for you to...don't worry. We Got Cha!
Take advantage now and click here to get your High Risk album today!
